'WE RACE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SELECTED WEDNESDAY TWILIGHTS"

Richmond sponsors get behind campaign
As part of Cystic Fibrosis National 65 Roses Day campaign, Richmond Race Club will stage their 65 Roses Race Meeting on Saturday night May 26.

Every time a greyhound wearing the red rug (number one) wins a race at Richmond at 65 Roses Race Meeting, Richmond Race Club will donate $2,250 to Cystic Fibrosis.

Richmond Race Club Vice President Ivan Tilley said the campaign was a fantastic way to help fund further research into Cystic Fibrosis and that through the clubs generous sponsors Castlewood Kitchens Pty Ltd, Century 21 Renshaw Realty, Bess Electrical, Forkbiz Australia Pty Ltd, Globe Memorial Company, Integrity Funerals NSW, Kevin Waters & Sons Towing and Steeline Riverstone the club will provide $2,000 to the fund for every winner caring the red rug at 65 Roses Race Meeting that night.

"Cystic Fibrosis is a debilitating condition that affects thousands of Australians there are over 3200 Australians currently living with Cystic Fibrosis." Mr Tilley said.

Less than 30% of funding required for research and support services in Australia is provided by government. Many of the programs can only happen through community financial support. Without that support Australians with Cystic Fibrosis simply don't get the help they need to live longer.

"We will endeavourer to encourage our local communities to try and make a difference any way they can."

Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening, recessive genetic condition affecting Australian children.

At present there is no cure, but organisations such as Cystic Fibrosis Australia (the national body) are dedicated to funding further research into the condition and Cystic Fibrosis NSW to providing services and support to people in NSW who live with Cystic Fibrosis.

Cystic Fibrosis NSW CEO Alex Huntir said Greyhound Racing NSW's support of the 65 Roses Day campaign would help his organisation provide support to people with Cystic Fibrosis and to one day find a cure for the condition.

"The 65 Roses Day campaign is a vital way for our organisation to raise funds and help improve the quality of life for people living with Cystic Fibrosis and their carers," Mr Huntir said.
