It may have only been in operation since 2014 but the Richmond Riches Puppy Auction has quickly asserted itself as the premier Greyhound Puppy Auction in the southern hemisphere.

In 2014, the Auction grossed more than $1.4m in sales and the graduates of the Auction competed in a three week race series at the Richmond Riches Puppy Classic held in May 2016 at the Richmond Race Club with the eventual winner, Thirty Talks, claiming a $100,000 first prize cheque.

Subsequent to the 535m race series, the 400m and 618m 2016 Puppy Auction Race series have now been run and won and we congratulate Tommy The Weapon (Neville Brown) for taking out the middle distance event and Lowanna's Son (Sharron Webster) who claimed the sprint series.

In the 2017 Richmond Riches Race Series, it was deja vu, as the top lot from the 2015 Puppy Auction, Mister Twister ($21,000) scored an emphatic victory off the inside draw for trainer Jason Mackay and the Tiger Seven Syndicate. To see his win, click here

Following the tumultuous events of 2016, with the NSW Government proposing to ban  greyhound racing In NSW and then subsequently reversing their decision, the Richmond Race Club were left with no option other than to postpone the Richmond Riches Puppy Auction for that year with a once-off Race Series to be held in May 2018 for pups that would have been eligible for that Auction.

But in 2017 we are back!!!

The Richmond Riches Puppy Auction will be held on Sunday, November 26 and for all details, simply click here to go to the Richmond Puppy Auction website.

The Richmond Race Club has announced details of the 2017 Richmond Riches Puppy Auction which will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Open to pups whelped between January 1 and June 30, 2017 (inclusive) the Auction will again cater for some of the best bred pups in Australia and will follow in the footsteps of the hugely successful Auctions held in 2014 and 2015 which has spurned subsequent $100,000 to the winner Race Series winners, Thirty Talks and Mister Twister, who have both since gone on to win Group 1 events.

Richmond Race Club Chairman, Peter Rodgers, said the Club is looking forward to another bumper Auction in 2017.

"We are thrilled to be able to continue the tradition of what is now Australia's premier Greyhound Puppy Auction and when you look at the deeds and performances of graduates from our previous Auctions, we have no doubt that this year's version will again be a huge success, even allowing for the obvious decrease in breeding numbers following the events of 2016 courtesy of the NSW Government," said Mr. Rodgers.
