Late Scratching PURELY SLY (6) withdrawn at 6.40pm due to a weight variation. This greyhound last started at The Gardens on the 7.11.08 at the weight of 31.2, tonight's weight of 32.4 was unacceptable. The connections explained that prior to its last start they had stopped feeding the greyhound kibble. But since its last start they had started feeding the greyhound the kibble again, this explained the increase in weight. The stewards subsequently withdrew the greyhound under rule 39 (1) and fined the connections the sum of $55 and the greyhound was issued with an incapacitation certificate for ten days from 14.11.08 up to and including 23.11.08. SPIRAL THRILLER (9) and EVANGELIA (10) not required.

BROCK ZERO FIVE (8) was slow to begin. SMOKE DA JAVA (2) and MISS PLACED (6) collided on the turn into the back straight when leading causing both of those runners to lose ground, causing MISS PLACED (6) and RAVENSTOKE (7) to fall, severely checking SMOKE DA JAVA (2) and MEDWAY REVENGE (4). As a result of the fall MISS PLACED (6) failed to finish the event. SMOKE DA JAVA (2) was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. MISS PLACED (6) was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon after the event and no injury was found. SAINTLY WISH (4) became lose during the stir-up and caught the lure at the finishing post. Veterinary examination of SAINTLY WISH (4) prior to the race and was passed fit to race. This resulted in the start of the race being delayed.
